Heat-resistant labels are specifically designed with durable materials that won’t melt or disintegrate in high temperature conditions. In many applications, they also must resist breakdown from chemical exposure. These labels are an important tool for identifying parts and categorizing materials in industries such as automotive, metalworking or manufacturing. 

When choosing heat-resistant labels, it’s important to consider the temperature range and conditions the label needs to withstand, how long the label needs to last, and the specific industry application.

Polyester

Made of a synthetic polymer, polyester labels are very durable, and able to withstand most harsh environments. They are able to resist temperatures up to 150º C, and maintain their appearance and legibility even when exposed to chemicals, abrasion and moisture. Common industry applications include asset labels, drum labels, and labels used to identify electronics, equipment and property.

Polyimide

Polyimide labels, also known as “Kapton Labels,” are made from a synthetic material known for its ability to withstand extreme temperatures up to 300º C. These labels are perfect for high temperature applications that demand long-term durability. Custom polyimide labels are available lead-free to meet RoHs compliance and OSHA hazard communication standards. Anti-static (electrostatic dissipative) options are also available. Applications include printed circuit board (PCB) identification, hot metal processing, wire and cable marking, and automotive engine labels.
