1971 | Albie J. Roman begins a filing & record retention business, including equipment sales, installation and consultation, from the basement of his home. Filing Systems, Inc. is incorporated within the State of Michigan. |
1972 | The business expands to its first commercial building (2,500 sq. ft.) in Detroit, Michigan. |
1976 | Filing Systems, Inc. relocates to a 3,000 sq. ft. building in Hamtramck, Michigan. |
1978 | The business successfully continues to expand & moves to a 10,000 sq. ft. building in Detroit. |
1980 | The business moves yet a fourth time to East Detroit, for the onset of in-house manufacturing of printed labels & filing products. |
1984 | The company begins to print it’s own label products. |
1990 | Due to expansion and increased production needs, the company relocates for a fifth time near the historic Ford Motor Assembly Plant (1st Assembly Line) on Woodward Ave. in Highland Park, Michigan. |
1999 | The company introduces the manufacturing of the ARGO, ultimate label dispenser, and is awarded a US Patent for the Argo Manual Label Dispenser. |
2000 | Filing Systems, Inc. implements a Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9000 standard compliance and continues to maintain ISO 9001 certification. |
2000 | Filing Systems, Inc. changes its name to FSI Label Company in order to better identify its core competencies. |
2001 | Albie J. Roman purchases FSI Label’s current location in Roseville, Michigan and spends a year and a half completely renovating the entire 30,000 sq. ft. building. |
2003 | Albie J. Roman passes away at the age of 68 leaving his wife, Sylvia to run the family business. |
2004 | Sylvia Roman obtains woman-owned business certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) and becomes a member of the Michigan Women’s Business Council (MWBC). |
2005 | Sylvia Roman passes away at the age of 65 leaving the business in the hands of her and Albie’s children, the second generation. |
2006 | The second generation, Emily M. Kopko (President) and Christopher A. Roman (Vice President) successfully maintain and continually improve the business to meet with present day consumer needs. Numerous diversified product lines are added, such as printed tapes, papers and tags, and massive expansion evolves in the commercial industries. |
2012 | The company purchases a new and unique CNC machine, to enhance and improve current machining processes for its line of Argo label dispensers. |
2013 | FSI Label purchases a new digital printer and finishing station in order to expand its printing capabilities. |
2017 | FSI Label invests in award-winning technology with its recent acquisition of a Colordyne 3600 Series Retrofit with mount for a Mark Andy 2200 press – a unique, hybrid press allowing for both flexographic and digital printing and in turn, enabling the company to better serve its clients with their custom label requirements, regardless of the volume. |
